Singapore and Lebanon

Singapore and Lebanon worldatlas.com crwflags.com - Culture & Religion:                       The culture of Singapore is commonly known as where East meets West, it is influenced heavily by the different customs each ethnicity brings forth and is accepted and celebrated. Furthermore, people in Singapore are usually seen as hardworking, career driven individuals. Due to the country's past, colonial rule, Japanese occupancy in World War 2, failed merger with Malaysia, the sheer size of the country and the lack of any form of natural resources; Singapore and Singaporeans had something to prove. As such, the pace in Singapore is very fast, constantly trying to propel themselves to the forefront in every aspect. For example, tourism, finance, education and medicine. At times, this results in the people being seemingly cold and unfriendly, unwilling to go out of their way in order to help someone else in need. The main
If we want to compare the Lebanese and the Canadian cultures... The canadian culture was influenced by other cultures such as the french and the british traditions. This is similar to the lebanese culture which was also affected by other countries such as Turkey and France. In addition, the canadian people are as hospital as the lebanese people, welcoming immigrants from all around the world. Also, family is life's greatest blessing for the lebanese people.. While the lebanese people think that you can be independent even when your family is next to you, the canadians are hooked on te idea of self-reliance: a teen that moves out of his parents' house is considered to be independent. In Lebanon, there are many factors that prove that the lebanese people have good communication skills. For example, they are sometimes good listeners as they make you feel that your voice is being heard. Also, the are trustworthy as they work effectively for you and take responsibilities. In a
Intercultural communication I chose to compare the Labanese culture with the Italian culture. Much like the Lebanese culture, the italian culture is steeped in the love and passion towards arts, family, architecture, music and food. Italians are some of the friendliest people you could meet and they are always willing to go the extra mile whenever they find someone who needs any kind of help. Lebanese people are also know for their generosity and hospitality, they always love to invite people over to have a great time and enjoy being around friends and family. Good communication: In Lebanon, people who are competent in intercultural communication are generally open minded and excepting of other's differences wether in social class, religious beliefs, educational level or political views. Plus, lebanese people are good listeners that are great at giving advice and enjoy helping others with their problems. In Italy, people who respect others without making them feel w
Intercultural communication is when 2 different cultures interact together with no boundries or judgment. Some of the aspects of good communication in my culture : Lebanese get along really fast and talk like they have know each other since forever like when u travel and meet a lebanese u bond instantly. Another good aspect is that they always have something to say, they're the ones that keep the conversation going and fun at the same time. Aspects of bad communication in the Lebanese culture: Bad communication in lebanon: opening a topic about religion or politics. Or using a word that has multiple meanings which can be sometimes offending to a non lebanese but is actually a normal and friendly word used between lebanese. Another aspect is judgment. Most Lebanese ( the old folks mostly) will judge you upon your beliefs. Some qualities of people who are competent in intercultural communication: They are usually open minded and non-judmental when it comes to different backgr

Intercultural communication

I chose to talk about the Lebanese culture and the American one. The Similarities : Both the Lebanese and the American cultures have a high rate of masculinity. Both cultures are "up-to-date", they keep up with what's going on around them. The Differences : The rate of individualism in the American culture is high, the people are very independent. They are only in contact with their direct family. That is not the case in the Lebanese culture. The rate is way lower, and family bonds are stronger. They stay in touch with the whole family. Another difference between these two cultures is the change in the traditions. The Americans always do what's better on the long-term. However, the Lebanese people are more attached to their traditions and their values. They barely change them. In addition, the Lebanese culture is very dependent on religion when the American culture is not. The Recommendations that strengthen the intercultural communication between the
Similarities/Differences in Cultures I chose to talk about the differences and similarities between the American culture and the Lebanese one. The similarities are that both cultures went through many wars and sacrificed their lives throughout history. Both cultures show high respect to those who sacrificed their lives in wars. The differences are many. The Lebanese culture has very strong bonds between its family members. They usually depend on their sons to take responsibility, while girls are more dependent on their parents. However, in the American culture, Americans tend to make their children leave the house and take responsibility at the age of 18. This is completely different from the Lebanese culture. Also, food in the Lebanese culture depends on the religion (Halal) while in the American culture it is not. Recommendation: In my opinion, cultures should advance in particular ways. Parents shouldn't put so much pressure on their kids in terms of leaving at 18 becau
Intercultural communication is the process by which citizens of different countries and cultures interchange information and discuss topics with one another without restrictions. The Canadian people are people of knowledge. Hence, the bar has been set high when it comes to the ways of communication. Effective communication, as regarded by Canadians, is the interchanging of valuable information in a considerate way. In Lebanon, the subject that stirs the most controversy is religion, and thus, communication in which religion is the main topic would be considered bad by the Lebanese people's standards. As for Canadians, who are very considerate and friendly people, bad communication is any communication which might be offensive to either party engaged in the talk. In Lebanon, people who stand out when it comes to intercultural communication are those who do not feel the need to bring up the subject of religion every now and then: for instance, your average Lebanese Joe w
