Our group made the decision to discuss the amazing similarities and differences between the French and Lebanese cultures. As one of our group members is a French citizen, it would be interesting to search about her background and where she grew up. Below we will consider the Language, Types of foods, sports, music, etc...

Language:
 France:
The official language spoken in France is French. However, there is a massive number of citizens who also speak English

Lebanon:
In Lebanon, the spoken language is Arabic, however, French is also one of the most popular languages due to the French colonization in 1920. Lebanese also speak English, so they are known to speak all three languages in this country.

Food:

France:

The French are pretty famous for their food. The baguette, which is a long, thin loaf of bread, is the most important part of any French meal. It is eaten in many ways, including being used to make sandwiches. Melted cheese spread on a baguette is often presented as part of a meal. A meal of grilled food (called la raclette) is sometimes served. Their fertile soil helps them produce fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, grains, and meat as well as grapes which are used to make some of the finest wines in the world.

Lebanon:
Several dishes from the Lebanese cuisine can be traced back thousands of years to when the Romans and the Phoenicians ruled. From 1516 to 1918, the Ottomans controlled Lebanon and introduced a variety of foods that have become staples in the Lebanese diet, such as cooking with Lamb. Most often, the food is grilled, baked, or cooked with olive oil. Herbs and Spices are used in large amounts in Lebanese foods.

Sports:

France:
Sports in France plays a vital role in the French society as a whole. The most popular sport played is football. Football is mostly played in the northern part of the country, and the French national team are the 1984 Olympic champion and 1998 World cup winners. These are considered to be great achievements for the French.

Lebanon:
Similarly, Lebanon share the same interests as the French, as the most popular sport in Lebanon is football as well. The most famous division in Lebanon is the Lebanese premiere league where twelve teams compete with one another.

Comparing Lebanon and Italy      Lebanon is the country where I have lived my whole life. It is located at the crossroads between the Arab world and the Mediterranean Basin, and as such it shares many similarities with other Mediterranean countries, like Spain, Greece and Italy . This is due to a common History those countries share, and consequently close cultures.      To start off, it would be interesting to give some basic information: according to recent statistics, Lebanon is 30 times smaller than Italy, and its population is currently 10 times less. But if we dwelve deeper into their respective cultures, we would be likely to find many similarities.   1- Language:    The Lebanese are known for being very efficient at learning languages. The average Lebanese can speak up to 3 languages: Arabic, French and English. Some are also fluent in Spanish, Italian, or German. Italians mostly speak Italian (97%), and a great majority of the population doesn't speak Englis

Similarities and differences between the Lebanese and Canadian

I have lived in Canada and Lebanon for numerous years and as such, I've noticed numerous similarities as well as differences between both cultures. For instance,  in Canada, teenage independence is much higher than in Lebanon. As a teenager of 16 years of age, you're relied upon to get a job and not depend on your parents, while in Lebanon, teenagers cannot get a job until they reach 18years of age and are expected to stay with their parents until they get married. In addition, Canada is a much more organised country with a much better organised system. Lebanon, on the other hand, somehow manages to stay afloat in corruption and chaos. Last but not least, the Canadian culture is much more open to acceptance of people of different cultures, nationality and religion. The Lebanese culture however, needs to take great strides to accept others of different religion and nationality as they takes these aspects of oneself way too personal. However, even with many differences, t
